Attorney James F. Cyrus IV   was born in Manhattan, New York, and spent the majority of his childhood living on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Finishing high school in Miami, FL, Mr. Cyrus spent most of his collegiate career in Chapel Hill, NC, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of North Carolina (UNC) in the fields of Political Science and Latin American studies.

While attending UNC, Mr. Cyrus became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. His involvement in the organization helped him realize his passion for helping people in need.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Cyrus studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, England. Shortly thereafter, he became a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley where he managed millions of dollars in assets and hosted seminars on building wealth through a diversified portfolio.

During this time period, Mr. Cyrus began to travel extensively throughout West Africa, Asia, and Europe. His experiences abroad inspired him to change his career path completely and instilled a belief that the best way for him to help others would be to obtain justice for individuals who would otherwise slip through the judicial system. Observations of a few poignant examples of extreme poverty fueled Mr. Cyrus’ desire to fight for the rights of the disadvantaged and disenfranchised.

While a law student, he served as a judicial intern with the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina under the guidance of the Honorable William Webb.

One of Mr. Cyrus’ most profound experiences as a law student was serving as a legal intern at The Law Offices of James D. Williams Jr., P.A., a boutique law firm in Durham, NC, that offered legal services in the area of Criminal Defense and Sports Law.

Mr. Cyrus, passed the bar exam in 2010, thereby obtaining his license to practice law in the state of North Carolina. After obtaining his North Carolina license, he was offered a position at The Law Offices of James D. Williams Jr., P.A. as an Associate Attorney. While working as an associate, he developed a close relationship with Attorney Williams and was inspired by him to open up his own firm in an effort to provide competent and proactive legal representation to clients benefitting from a global perspective.
